Dirt Roads & Coffee Roots

When it comes to coffee, all roads seem to lead to Brazil. It’s the largest coffee-producing country in the world. And when Brazil’s coffee harvest is impacted, the entire industry feels it.

In recent years, Brazil has faced a series of weather-related challenges: historic frosts, prolonged drought, and extreme heat during key stages of bean development. This season, all eyes are on the harvest, expected to peak in July, and we’re watching closely from our cupping table in Kansas City to the rolling hills of Sul de Minas and the Cerrado.

We’re rooting for a strong crop that's not just for the market, but for the farmers, families, and communities we’ve worked with for years.

A Decade of Partnership

This month, our Roaster’s Choice subscribers received something special: a curated collection of three coffees from COCARIVE, our longtime partners, in the high-altitude region of Mantiqueira de Minas. We’ve built more than just a relationship; shared vision for quality and connection.

Two of the coffees in this month’s box haven’t even been released to the public yet:

  • Fazenda do Condado — a pulped natural Red Catuai grown by Pedro Chaib and his father Ibrahim. It’s elegant and floral, with a creamy, honey-like body and soft finish.

  • Fazenda do Canaan — a natural Mundo Novo from Sergio Dias. Rich and full-bodied, this coffee is a lush cup layered with deep chocolate, tropical fruit, and a resonant finish that lingers.

Completing the trio was our Estrada de Terra — formerly known as Brazil COCARIVE. This balanced, everyday drinker has been a staple in our lineup, and its new name ("Dirt Road") celebrates the connections coffee makes between people, places, and moments. It’s a nod to the winding paths we travel to bring these coffees home to you.

Your Invitation to Explore

Every month, Roaster’s Choice subscribers receive an exclusive box of small-lot coffees handpicked by our roasting team — often from relationships we’ve spent years building. Alongside each box, you’ll get the stories behind the beans: the farmers, the regions, the growing conditions, and the flavors that make each coffee unique.

If you’re curious to taste along with us and deepen your connection to the world of coffee, we’d love to have you on this journey.
